I haven't updated the blog for a while so here is the latest blog to start off the new year.
This was a very short notice spur of the moment thing that was decided on Saturday afternoon to have a trip out on the Sunday morning. With no time to arrange worm we decided to have a few hours out targeting some spurdog with frozen baits. There is a worrying lack of cod being caught in the area this year.
We launched around 11 am at a very busy slip at the Afan boat club with a nice forecast the sea had a few swells which kept our speed down a bit and we headed out to a mid channel mark in nice deep water. We spotted Ade and his son on Oddsox anchored near the scar weather bank.
We got to our mark and dropped anchor and were soon joined by Kev and his mate on Ffion Jade.
The fishing started a little slow with the usual dogs starting to show then ian had a nice spur on his whiting rig which he did well to get to the surface before it bit off his hook.
It went quiet again but as high water approached the fishing picked up with a few spurs showing and causing chaos tangling all the lines. They seemed to be going for the small baits intended for whiting rather than the nice heavy rigs with nice big baits on.

It was almost time to head back in when Ian had this eel which give him a bit of a wrestle i think it didn't like having its photo taken.
We had a good few hours out and some decent fishing i didn't manage a spurdog they kept away from my rod some how and going for rods either side of me?
