After watching the weather closely we were aiming to get a midweek trip out.
The winds yet again had steadily risen up to 15mph gusting to 20mph but thankfully coming from the north east so we could get away with it.
We launched at 6am into a very dark river, with no moon to help we slowly plodded out passed the short arm then passed the long arm where we stopped to set the rods up then headed to a mark further east.

Ian was on form today pulling in a nice codling around 3and a half pound quickly followed by what felt a very good fish but it was another similar codling with a conger on the other hook gutted!
I was carrying on from the Cardiff trip catching dogs and eels while Ian was getting the whiting and codling.
We had loads of dogs for the next few hours so we moved to the other side of the mark for the flood.
Superman Ian had a jumbo whiting of 42cm a nice size

It was time for a spot of lunch so we had a change from the usual bacon rolls
There is an amazing amount of dogfish in the bay we estimated we had around 200 by the end of the day.
We stayed on this mark most of the day so we were planning a move so decided to go to deeper water just before it got dark
