We haven't been out much due to the high winds we seem to constantly have of late but the forecast was looking ok for this one.
Myself Ian and stead launched at 11 am into a light NW wind and it was a nice sunny day for a change, we headed out towards the swigg to see if there were any mackerel around.
Andy was also out on catcher with james and peter who had launched earlier and had been trying for mackerel to no avail so we knocked that on the head and moved into the bay to try for some pout to use for tope bait later.
Things were a little slow to start but the bites started to come.

Stead had the first bream of the year only a baby though
We had enough pouting for later so we moved a mark little further offshore that we haven't tried before but have had an eye on for some time
Things were very slow here not even dogfish were biting so much for this mark I bet they were thinking. To divert blame for the lack of fish I got some food on.
Ian had supplied the food today with some very nice fiery frankfurters and bacon.

Just as we finished eating Stead had a banging bite which was no dogfish for sure which resulted in a cracking surprise bream
Not to be outdone Ian had this cracking bream tipping the scales at 3lb 4oz a new record for Scottyano. The photo doesn't do it any justice to its size
The tope baits didn't get a touch apart for a huss which was disappointing.
There weren't any more bream caught but the size made up for lack of numbers.
We moved over to the reef in the hope of more bream and some tope where we bumped into andy and the lads on catcher

The guys had a good day with plenty of species and some tope well done.
The wind had picked up quite a bit and when the tide turned it got a bit iffy so we decided to head near port and fish by the long arm until there was enough water to get back in the river.
We had dogs, bream, pouting, huss, red gurnard, smooth hound not the best but a decent start to the summer fishing
