It's been a while since i have done a report we haven't been out much of late but a rare break in the weather saw myself Ian and Stead get out for the day. We launched around 7.45 into a nice flat sea and steamed straight over to langland reef to be there for the high water slack. The fishing was a little slow we had a few small bream the odd whiting pouting and plenty of dogs. with not much happening we moved to another mark on the reef which fished well the last time we were out but it was quite slow there too again with a few small bream.
we stuck it out for a while then decided on a move west to try a bank for some bass. Ian didn't look too keen on this plan as he is not a big fan of drift fishing so i tried to sell him the idea as best i could saying i think we will have a good chance of some fish as the water was nice and clear and so on. We hardly go after the bass at the best of times even more so since the poxy rules came out but we lined up the boat for the first drift and straight off i had a nice fish of 54cm which was kept for the table.
Getting a fish on the first drift we went around the bank to pick up the track we had just put down and try again and Ian was into a fish this time with another nice bass but i did notice a little smile i'm sure and he seemed very keen for the next drift?
We were hoping stead could make it a hat trick on the third drift but it wasn't to be the fishing had stopped, we gave it another few drifts but nothing so we headed to oxwich to try for some mackerel

The mackerel were proving hard to find just getting the odd one here and there so the plan for tope fishing was not looking good but we persevered and manged to get enough.
I did manage a tope but not expecting one this big!

It was time to get back to try for the bream and tope and as soon as we anchored we were into the bream with a couple of decent fish caught but it suddenly went quiet so thinking there may be tope around we set up for them but we didn't manage any runs just a few huss putting a bend in the rods but better than nothing.
We decided on a move into swansea bay but it was very quiet there and we were all tired, I'm sure Ian was resting his eyes behind his shades so we decided to call it a day and got back to Port Talbot around 6pm.
We had a very enjoyable day with a few species caught and Ian could be a bass convert just need to find a nice a big one for him.
